The Mechatronics laboratory is one of the laboratory facilities that highlight the college from another. The lab is equipped with state of the art machinery that allows the students to get a complete knowledge on actuators that work on hydraulics and pneumatics. Various equipments include Basic Level Electro PNEUMATIC Trainer Kit with and without PLC. The PLC being a 14 point PLC working on FANUC software, servo controller open/closed system of 3000 rpm and torque of .32 Nm Ac servo motor-100watts, multi process station with flow rate 500-1000 liters with a global pneumatic control valve, PID controller interfacing set up with PF-100 RTD sensor.
The fluid mechanics laboratory is where the engineering students test the efficiency of pumps such as centrifugal pumps, reciprocating pumps, gear pumps and also to test the efficiency of turbines such as the Kaplan and pelton wheel turbines. It also includes experiments that are designed to check the flow of liquid and the various losses that occur during the flow. Various equipments include a Kaplan test rig -1550 rpm turbine, discharge of 6000 lpm and head of 5m. Francis turbine with 15m head, turbine speed of 1500 rpm, centrifugal pump of.5hp, submersible pump 3hp, reciprocating pump 1 hp, pelton wheel turbine test rig with 36m head, 660 lpm discharge, turbine speed 1500 rpm and a gear pump of 2hp.
The CAD/Cam laboratory trains the students in the upcoming fields of analysis of structures and also the design of various components. The experiments designed helps the student to get a complete picture on how to design a component from step to step right from choosing the material, the basic shapes, assembly and then analysis on the strength of the entire structure. The laboratory is equipped with 32 systems with P-IV processors, 80 GB memory, 17” colour monitor and 1GB Ram. The softwares used are Solidworks (16 licenses), Edge CAM (5 users) Ansys11.0 (25 licenses), Matlab 11.0 (15 licenses), CATIA V 5R11 (25 licenses).
The college is very particular that the students must get the best of the coaching that is available and that is the sole reason why the lathe shop consists of full and full production level lathes that are used in industries. The students are extensively trained to machine various components with experiments that include facing, turning, and multi threads, under cut, boring and also advanced tests like tool life analysis. The lathe shop is equipped with Panther lathe with Centre height 215 mm, distance between centers 1000 mm, Length of Bed 1380mm, and Kirloskar Lathes with 175mm centre height, 800mm distance among centers, 1200 mm bed length. All together the Laboratory is equipped with 15 lathes.
The special machines laboratory is equipped with the best of machines that are required to manufacture any component. Cylindrical grinding machine, Surface grinding machine, shapers, face milling, end mill cutters, drilling machines power saws and also the most advanced CNC (Vertical machining centre) worth 28 Lakhs which can machine in three axis. The lab is equipped with surface grinding machine (pinnacle), Cylindrical grinding machine (forward and backward traverse) universal Milling Machine with movement capacity of 800mmx230mmx 400mm in the longitudinal, transverse and vertical respectively.
An engineering student needs to be trained thoroughly with the basics and hence the student is trained on basics such as carpentry, plumbing, and are also given training on power tools that are most frequently used. The students are also taught how to make various joints such as dove tail joint, tee joint in carpentry and taught to make threads on pipes. The students are usually taught to make threads on 1 inch (1”) pipes PVC preferred for safety reasons.
Our Department equipped with the latest machinery facilities such as CNC Turning, Vertical Turning, Horizontal Turning, Horizontal Boring Machine, Cylindrical Grinding, and Surface Grinding. Our machining division to serve customer especially for giving the solution machining jobs and to support works requiring machining process.
